Joe G – Compelled, Searching for Love
Last month, a video from English artist and multi-instrumentalist Joe G was released. Everyone who says that the times of video clips in the past are cunning because the video is not what slows down the song, but on the contrary helps to reveal the content of the musical work and look at it from a completely different angle.

The song 'Compelled' is the first part of the video and introduces us to a creative person who wants to escape from everything so familiar in this life. He wants to be alone with his big romantic heart to write poetry and music about something, about even more incredible than life itself. His comfort zone is full of cigarette smoke and the smell of alcohol where there his freedom can not be taken away and it is better to leave everything as it is and get out of all this, fall asleep and immerse yourself in the world of illusions and fantasies. He falls asleep and moves forward and decides to act. The second part of the video called 'Searching for love' gives him this chance and our hero decides to return everything he lost that did not appreciate what was nearby and what sought reciprocity that is beloved girl, faithful friend and forgiving father. Will he be able to enter this world again and get the love that seems lost? Partly, but everything disappears and the images of people dear to him will always be near him and will never become a reality.

The music is performed by one musician and it is fresh and not like what we hear now on the radio and in playlists. One could call his style funk-rock but that rock has never been so romantic. Romance in the melody of Joe J.'s songs that sound from under a cohort of his guitars: authentic-acoustic and drive-ripping. His melodies are remembered against the background of the duck rhythm section. Powerful bass with a funky snare drum and melodies in a classic minimalist style as well as in the now fashionable Chinese pentatonic. Joe J.'s vocals fit the accompaniment perfectly, and speaking of musical associations, it seems that something like this has already tried to break out and grow into its style in the mid-90s, as in the first album of the Finnish Rasmus. But it seems that Rasmus themselves followed a different style and bands such as RHCP or Incubus did not give that simplicity and romance in the development of funk-rock and its followers. Check out this music videos below that came out in support of the album 'Cityscape' (released on December 4, 2020). We will watch this young talented artist and hope that his active creative and touring way will lead him to the world he dreams of.
